Fireflies and Watermelon

I've been taking time to enjoy the little things. Slowing down enough to absorb the beauties this new summer season has brought along but not slowing down too much to keep it all moving. So far, it's been so warm and full of fireflies and watermelon, afternoon bicycle rides, celebrations, new creations, music, family and friends. It's only just begun.

Orange Crush Cabled Scarflette/Neckwarmer

Even the buttons are handmade by me! I'm currently blocking another in heather gray. I've improved this design since my last one too, keeping the piece from rolling at the top and bottom, ensuring optimal coverage and comfort too.

Yarnbombing!

My most recent yarnbombing in Mount Holly, NJ adorns a public telephone pole. My hope is to bring some color and happiness to the local passersby.

We're also on Facebook!

The Last Poppy

This is the last poppy of the season. It seems to have more blooms each year and is easily one of the favorites in the garden. Not only are they beautiful, but they're larger than most varieties because the blooms are the size of a hand and are between three and four feet tall.

Babies

It's been some time since my last post and I have a few updated photos to share with you. Aren't they cute? One day soon, they're going to look just like their Mama. All four of them are growing fast and starting to resemble robins.

Then There Were Four

I checked the nest in my yard again and there are now four eggs. What a lovely surprise.

My Favorite Ogre

So, my little nephew Alex came to visit this morning and modeled my Ogre Hat for a few cookies. He is at the age where he doesn't stay very still, but he liked the hat and we both had fun running around, chasing a ball. When I created this hat, I was unaware Shrek The Final Chapter was coming out later this month.

They're back!

This is the second year my birds have come back to the same nest! I took photos of them last year and peeked last week but the nest was empty. Two days ago, I saw a bird hanging out near the same tree. I looked today and there are three pretty eggs in there!

Postcarden

The idea that you can mail someone a garden is great. This would be great for a cubicle or office desk, do you think?

This is why...

...exactly why. When I open my bedroom curtains each morning, I see this. I'm a self-taught gardener and I learn as I go. When I first moved here, there were a few gardens in the front yard, but nothing in the back. I created a perennial garden outside my bedroom window as well as a vegetable garden out there. I'm still in the process of shifting a few of the plants around, it's a constant work-in-progress.

Ogre Hat in Spring Pea

I'm not sure what your idea of fun is, but mine is making Ogre Hats! These are so adorable and I'm looking forward to sharing them with all of my friends' babies. It seems like all of our friends start having babies around the same time. Maybe it was the cold, long winter? I've added this to my shop today and should mention this will fit children of any age.

Lovelies

I've been craving vintage in a bad way. Anything full of character and old. It is slowly making me avoid anything new and shiny. Things were indeed made better and why not use those things that we already have?
  • From vintage toy boats and handmade leather boxes to pudding molds and telephones, satisfind's shop has you covered.
  • I found enhabiten's shop this week. I don't know if it's too soon to admit it but I'm in love. You too will find yourself checking back here. It feels like a comfortable, worn-in breezy home. Her blog is equally amazing and can be found here. I'm looking forward to trying out her scone recipe this weekend.
  • I love the lines on this fan and wonder if for such a fair price, would it be fixable and usable once again. Currently, jollytimeon has 330+ items to peruse.

Eastered

I love the colors of Easter. The perfect blend of pastels smell of candy. I've been spending so much time outside lately. My gardens are all weeded except for the vegetable garden. I have quite a bit of work to do in there and well, I've been saving the worst for last with that job. I've been digging up some of my perennials and sharing them with family and friends.
