Virgil

Virgil

Despite his hefty physique, Virgil is quite a fine climber and he uses his suction cup hands to maneuver to great heights. These hands also help him to collect things and eat them. Most recently, his favorite foods are building blocks and green olives. His mouth is really a huge pocket! He's currently available for adoption and more information may be found in our shop.

Each of them is one-of-kind and was handmade by me (Christa) right here in our studio. Each will arrive with a tag including his or her history, hopes and dreams. These ladies and gentlemen are all available and ready to ship.

Beanie Hats!

yesterdaydream.com
I've been whipping up some chunky beanies for my shop and also as gifts for the Holidays. This one is an alternate version of my Basic Ribbed Hat pattern. Instead of doing the 2x2 ribbing, I changed it to 1x1 ribbing.

Do you already follow me on Instagram? If not, you really should and please be sure to say Hello!

We've Been Featured!

Tex has been featured on the awesome ionlylikemonsters site! A big thanks to the j-monster for adding him. Tex is letting it get to his head a bit. We've been a fan of this site for a while and it's a huge compliment to be included with such fantastic creations.

Jarmafali

Deep in the Atlantic Ocean is the island of Jarmafali. The creatures who inhabit the island live a rich life full of dancing, friends and the freshest berries. Depending on which berries a native of Jarmafali eats, their colors or shapes may vary.

These measure between 6-8 inches and they're perfect for little hands to carry, hold and play with. There are some currently in the shop.

The Bee Keeper's Quilt

I've done it! I've finally started The Bee Keeper's Quilt. It's been in my queue for far too long and I was inspired by Thea at Ladybug Hill Farm. The photos from her instagram feed were wonderful.

It consists entirely of 3 inch "hexipuffs" made from sock wool. It's pretty difficult not to quickly become addicted to these squishy hexagons. This is all I've finished so far, having just started yesterday. These make for a perfect small traveling project as they take up very little space in a purse or bag and knit up very quickly.

They are a great way to use up some of those tiny bits of wool from other projects. You know you have some of those pretty little scraps wound up in your stash, come on. This quilt is going to take some time and I'm looking forward to creating some custom hexipuffs to make my quilt very personal.

Have you worked on this project? How far have you gotten? Are you in hexilove? I am!

Handmade Gift Exchange - Sunflower Brooch from Haley!

My last post before this included a photo of a sunflower in my garden and then I received this lovely sunflower brooch from Haley at The Zen of Making blog! Thank you Haley for somehow reading my mind and making me such a perfect and beautiful gift. How much fun is this? I can pin it to my bag or a cardigan. Rarely, do I spend time to make things for myself. Haley's site is quickly becoming one of those where there is always something refreshing and fun waiting to enchant you.

A special "thank you" to Linda at Craftaholics Anonymous for organizing the entire Handmade Gift Exchange and making it so fun and inspiring! Not only do I have a super creative new friend, but I'm looking forward to next year's exchange too.

New In The Shop

I was inspired to make a needle felted monster for my little niece who just turned seven. She will love him so much (he's the purple guy on the right). During the process of creating him from a puff of wool, I fell in love with the technique and created a few more. Murray is the guy on the left with the three eyes and three legs. Vitelli is the blue guy and those are his records which fit into a pocket on his back. George is the red orange guy holding a purple flower.

Each of these little colorful characters stands between 6-7 inches tall and can be found in the shop.

Meemer!

Meet Meemer. He listens to your secrets and never speaks a word. His soft red body is so squishy and flops when tossed upon a chair. He is super special and I can't wait for him to find a great home. Hopefully, he'll find someone who loves him as much as I do.

He was also featured last month in my Underneath it All post. He was the one with the purple heart carefully stitched below his hand knit skin. His over-sized blue eyes make him really hard to resist.

New In The Shop

Randolph is a Piney. He enjoys strolls through the Pine Barrens. He collects moss and pine cones when no one is looking and appreciates the beauty of the woods.

He loves to cuddle and keeps warm with the handknit sweater I made custom for him from merino wool. Randolph stands at 11 inches, making him perfect for smaller hands. He is entirely handstitched from a repurposed wool, cashmere and angora blend. His features are stitched with cotton thread.

Underneath it All

If you ever wonder what is on the inside of my dolls/creatures, besides time and love, I can assure you each of them has a hand-stitched cotton tubing inside. It takes time, but I want to make sure my creations are super durable and hold up to play and your little one's curiosity. These two new dolls even have little hearts. No one will ever see that, but it's there, lovingly sewn underneath it all.

New In The Shop

This super sweet pair of fingerless mitts were created from a vintage wool sweater and now have a new useful life ahead. I love the shade of green and the hand stitched flowers really give them a lovely touch. More photos and info is here.
