Underneath it All

If you ever wonder what is on the inside of my dolls/creatures, besides time and love, I can assure you each of them has a hand-stitched cotton tubing inside. It takes time, but I want to make sure my creations are super durable and hold up to play and your little one's curiosity. These two new dolls even have little hearts. No one will ever see that, but it's there, lovingly sewn underneath it all.

Fitzsu is offering made to order Poultry Domes for both chicken or turkey. A new, untypical glass collection designed by Fabrica for Secondome.  

Objects used in the past, such as cake or roast covers, are reinvented in both their use and their shape. The past and the future blend in these innovatively-shaped creations: the future lies in the ideas and sketches of Fabrica’s young designers, while the past is represented both by the choice of the material (glass) and by relying on the art of skilled glass-makers. The piece above was designed by Ben Cabelli (Israel). A collection revisiting daily use objects in an ironic and unconventional way and transforming them into top design pieces.

Tape Art

Cocoons made entirely of shipping tape suspended in mid-air within a former stock exchange building in Vienna is one exhibition in Berlin's 8th annual DMY International Design Fair.

I've been craving vintage in a bad way. Anything full of character and old. It is slowly making me avoid anything new and shiny. Things were indeed made better and why not use those things that we already have?

• From vintage toy boats and handmade leather boxes to pudding molds and telephones, satisfind's shop has you covered.
• I found enhabiten's shop this week. I don't know if it's too soon to admit it but I'm in love. You too will find yourself checking back here. It feels like a comfortable, worn-in breezy home. Her blog is equally amazing and can be found here. I'm looking forward to trying out her scone recipe this weekend.
• I love the lines on this fan and wonder if for such a fair price, would it be fixable and usable once again. Currently, jollytimeon has 330+ items to peruse.

Lace In Translation

Tord Boontje was born in The Netherlands.  He studied industrial design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven from 1986 to 1991 and received a Masters degree from the Royal College of Art, London (1994).  In 2005, Boontje moved from London to Bourg-Argental, France, where Studio Tord Boontje is now located. I've been intrigued by his work since the first time I found it and we're currently shopping for his curtains for our home.
